Mark Your Calendars: At the 5:30 pm Mass on Saturday, July 31, Archbishop George Lucas will be at St. Patrick’s as the main celebrant for the installation of Father David Belt. All are welcome to attend.

Catholic Voice Article: Did you read the interesting article in the Catholic Voice of July 16 about priests moving from one parish to another? The story featured our new pastor, Father Dave Belt, and Father Michael Malloy, now at Battle Creek. The by-line, Lisa Maxson, did a masterful job exploring the issues and emotions of leaving one flock or parish for another Look up page 13 if you didn’t read it already.

Family/Student packets for Bergan Middle/High School students may be picked up at the Bergan High School office starting Monday, August 2. Office Hours are 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Have You Wondered….?
Q:   I really want to be more of a witness to faith, but am afraid of becoming a religious flake. How can I be more of a witness without becoming fanatical?
A:   Making bread is not difficult, but it does require that you blend water, flour, yeast, and salt in the right proportions or else the bread fails. Jesus uses the image of bread often when he speaks about spiritual things. Our life of faith requires balance, or the right blend of things, in order to be authentic and credible. Emotion, intellect, under-standing and spiritual practice are all essential to the life of a believer. When any of these elements are over-emphasized to the detriment of the others, we risk the loss of balance and direction that leads us to “monotone, monochrome” thinking. We can give witness to our faith in small ways: a meal prayer even in a restaurant; a sign of the cross when passing a cemetery, a religious statue in our gar-den, an appropriate bumper sticker. Our witness to faith needs to be like yeast in bread—present, effective, transforming. When it guides your everyday life, when you stand up for what is right and good, when others see the person you are because of faith, you give great witness. The best sermon is always the one without any words. 2009 Lit Pub Inc.

CHECK OUT!  Fremont's St.Pats,  LIFE TEEN Website!  www.fremontlifeteen.com   This international Catholic youth program has started in our parish with a LIFE TEEN Mass and LIFE TEEN Nights.  The LIFE TEEN Mass is the 5:00pm Sunday Mass at Church. This means the music will be accompanied by guitar, perhaps drums, piano... We are starting small but the music will be more Teen friendly. The music will be given on sheets handed out at the doors. The Mass is still the Mass but the involvement will be more youth driven. The youth will be taking on the roles of reading, serving, ushering and greeting, etc. But this will develop over time. DO YOU HAVE ANY MUSIC TALENT? If you can play an instrument or sing talk to Pamela or Jason our Music Ministers! Email them at president.cli@gpcom.net or rita_0587@hotmail.com
